Erie Otters Import Draft Pick Martin Misiak Signs Entry-Level Contract with NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks

Repost from The Hockey News

Chicago Blackhawks 2023 second round pick Martin Misiak has signed his three year entry-level contract with the hockey club.

Misiak spent the entirety of this season in the OHL with the Erie Otters, who picked him first overall in the CHL Import Draft. This was Misiak’s second season playing in North America, as he played half of last season with the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL.

The Slovak forward put up 47 points in 60 games with the Otters, helping guide them to their first playoff birth in a couple of seasons.

Misiak is a high-energy, electric winger who has the ability to create a lot of quick offence — especially off of the rush. He pressures opponents tightly and he’s a speedy force on the forecheck, causing opponents to panic often. Misiak is able to manipulate space at a high level with his hands and shiftiness, and he’s a player that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.

He has represented Slovakia in the past two World Junior Championships, playing a bigger role in the most recent tournament last winter. He is one of many Slovak import players playing in the CHL, and the Erie Otters hit the nail on the head with this pick.

Misiak was able to get one game in with the Rockford IceHogs this season, his first professional game. Now, he has signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks, establishing his place as a prospect in their system.
